We have both had a love of cats all our lives, but it was only in 1996 we had our first kitten. We saw an advert in the local paper for kittens for sale, and made an appointment to see them. We chose a ginger female and brought her home with us there and then. She was not a pedigree but she was only intended to be the family pet.
When she was about a year old, she gave us a litter of five kittens, and the experience was amazing, from the birth, with a little help from us, to the time we had to let the kittens go. In fact, in the end, we kept two of them.
We decided soon after we would like to breed cats, and started thinking about the breed we would choose.
It was not an easy choice, and in the end it took a few years to decide, and along the way we got a Ragdoll, but thats another story. In the end we both decided the British Shorthairs were the ones for us, and Misty arrived in 2002.
From her first litter, we kept a colourpoint, named Dusty, and she became our second breeding queen. From the litter she had in April 2006 we kept a blue self. We named her Cindy. We have, so far, one boy. He is a young blue spot. His name is Ben.
